12 Years A Slave Film Review

Upon reading dozens of reviews of this film, I came to realize that there were many mixed analyzations and opinions on the movie. Not only were most of the reviews uncomplimentary, but majority mentioned the so called poor acting that took place in the film. I found this interesting because not only did I disagree and believed that the acting was well done, I thought that each actor did a great job at exemplifying how morbid this time in history would have been. One of the reviews that I particularly found intriguing was one made by Carson Lund, on November 6, 2013. Carson Lund mentioned how he did enjoy how the director did touch on sharing the outcome of slavery to an audience, but as shown further in the review, he did continue to stick with the theme on how to movie could have been portrayed better by stating how it was too "Hollywood". By this, he meant that the film was filtered and did not fully demonstrate what slavery could have truly been like during the time period. For this particular film, these issues of concealment were due to the directors more focussing on popular actors, music aspects, and the opposition to show the true cruelty of what the slaves went through.
