Tonight's Dinner Menu
Drink: Water
At tonight's dinner party, the drink of choice is water. By drinking this water, we will be representing how we can flush our bodies of all its impurities. This is similar to how Patrick Sonnier cleansed his body and mindset from all of life's negativity before his death.
Appetizer: White Bread
For tonight's appetizer, we will be serving white bread. White bread is a popular menu item among many prisons in the United States. To give somewhat of a prison dining experience, we will supply each person with 2-5 slices of bread. This is typically the amount that prisoners are supplied with each day.
Main Course: Steak
For our main course we will be having steak. We will having steak in order to honor Patrick Sonnier and his last meal that he ate before his execution. When on Death Row, you are allowed to request any food of your choice for your final meal. Patrick's final meal was steak.
Side Dish: Asparagus
Our first side dish on the menu is asparagus. We chose this as our first side because of its natural green color. Green represents peace, healing, and victory which are all traits that Helen allowed him to experience during their religious journey. Asparagus also contains an acid called asparagine which cleanses the body of waste, similar to how Patrick cleanses himself of negativity before his death.
Side Dish: Mashed Potatoes
Another side dish on the menu is mashed potatoes. We chose this as one of our side dishes due to its pure white color. This white represents light, purity, and surrender which are all aspects that represented Patrick in his journey to purify himself before his execution.
Side Dish: Blue Corn
The next side dish on tonight's menu is blue corn. Blue corn has the natural blue color which represents heaven, The Holy Spirit, serenity, and revelation. Along with these characteristics, corn is also mentioned in the bible which can further represent the spiritual journey Sister Helen helped Patrick complete before his death.
Side Dish: Butternut Squash
The last side dish on tonight's menu is butternut squash. Butternut squash is orange, which represents ambition, strength, and endurance which again are all traits that Patrick had to learn to encompass before his death. This squash also enhances complexion, increases energy, and contributes to a healthy weight. All of these health provoking aspects were extremely hard to achieve in prison.
Dessert: Lemon Cupcakes
For tonight's dessert we will be serving lemon cupcakes. We chose this dessert because they are traditionally yellow which represents happiness, friendship, and rest. All of these qualities are ones Patrick received after his passing, due to before his death him apologizing to both families of the murdered teenagers. These cupcakes are sour but then sweet, very similar to how Patrick made light of a difficult situation.

I really liked how you used color symbolism with the food to reveal more about your topic.
